Rhyl Rugby Club and Travis Perkins have cemented their links with a generous donation of a van, decked out in the joint colours of the club and the nationwide builders merchants. It is a notable milestone for Rhyl Rugby Club, who recently received confirmation of their standing as the sports club with the largest active junior playing base in Wales and possibly England as well.

Junior section Will Morecombe told the Journal "We benefited twelve months ago from the signing of a three year sponsorship deal with Travis Perkins and this latest donation to the club underlines the solid links between ourselves and the company." Rhyl Rugby Club have recently embarked on an ambitious development programme which aims to introduce rugby to pupils at all of the primary schools in the district as well as furthering links with the area's secondary schools.

Club stalwart Lee Blackmore said "Having this van means that when our coaches go on outreach sessions at the schools they will be able to take the full regalia of training kit with them which will make their training sessions even more exciting for the youngsters."

This development programme is the latest initiative by Rhyl Rugby Club and highlights their commitment not only to rugby but also to building links with the Rhyl area community.

Lee added "Many local groups and clubs make use of our social club facilities on a regular basis, which we are delighted with".

If any group or club wouldlike to explore ways in which they could use the club's facilities, they are asked to phone Lee on Rhyl 353748. Any school who has not yet been contacted by the junior development team should phone Will on 07976093150.
